Workplace Safety Consulting

Know the People Who Know Workplace Safety

Join more than 31,000 businesses that rely on Summit safety consulting to help lower their workers’ comp costs.

Keeping your employees safe is a top priority at Summit, and we’re good at it. Our policyholders and their insurance agents frequently describe the impact that Summit safety consultants have on reducing claims—and ultimately on lowering workers’ comp mods and premiums over time.

The Summit approach to safety is distinct. Our consultants are employees, not third parties, who live in your state and understand effective workplace safety in your industry. Give us the opportunity to get to know your workplace and your people, and we’ll help you build a culture of safety with a customized program that fixes the source of your claims.

Best of all, our safety education and tools are included with most policies.

Incident investigations help you learn what happened.

When an accident occurs, our team has the tools and experience to help you assess what happened, collect the right data for your records, and help prevent future workers’ comp claims.

Professional safety assessments provide a plan for improvement.

Our team of safety experts will identify hazards in your workplace and recommend a customized plan for mitigating those risks. Depending on your policy and needs, safety assessments happen over the phone, virtually or in person, once a year, semi-annually or quarterly.

Drug-free workplace implementation can lower premiums.

A drug-free workplace program is likely to improve your safety culture. And it could earn a credit towards your workers’ comp premium in 10 of 15 states in which we currently serve. See which states offer a credit!

Pioneering Back2work® program aims to reduce claims costs.

Summit was among the first workers’ comp insurance companies to pioneer an efficient return-to-work program. We will help you implement our results-focused system that reintroduces injured employees to the workplace as soon as possible to improve their outlook and mitigate costs.

Loss analysis identifies claim trends that require action.

Our safety assessments can include detailed analysis of claims data to get ahead of specific problem areas and help prevent repeated accidents.

Industry-specific training leads to stronger employee safety.

Our consultants can provide training and resources focused on your team’s challenges, as well as general safety and fall protection awareness. Your managers with safety responsibilities can view Summit’s online library of more than 900 training tools, many of which are offered in English and Spanish.

Rely on expertise from a permanent safety consultant in your region.

Summit’s loss prevention and safety consultants live in your area and are assigned to each policyholder for the long term. This creates a relationship in which our consultant knows your business and employees well and can help you build and monitor the most effective action plan.

Tap into the collective wisdom of dozens of safety specialists.

Knowledge is power, and the collective wisdom of our safety team is a powerful resource. They collaborate and share a pool of unique skills and knowledge with each other for the benefit of policyholders. We have specialists in dozens of industries, like home health, horse and cattle farming, logging, construction, marinas, restaurants, confined spaces, hazardous materials, and many others.

If you need specialized information, chances are high that your consultant already has the knowledge or can quickly get it from a colleague.

Benefit from our low premium thresholds for customized safety services.

Most carriers offer loss prevention services only to their larger policyholders. Summit, however, believes that every business needs access to quality safety resources. Many of our services (such as our safety training library) are available to every business insured by a Summit-managed program.

A handful of customized services are designed for larger customers, but even those have comparatively low premium requirements. Even if your premium falls below these thresholds, give us a call if you need safety assistance. We have access to vast resources and will match your business with the safety tools you need, no matter your size.

Having an effective workplace safety program that’s collaboratively built and monitored by the owners, managers and employees of a company is one of the best ways to show that the safety of employees is a high priority.
